After 3 minutes, João Augusto de Almeida mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lustosa and the Malu players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 3 played minutes Lustosa got a freekick which was hit by João Augusto de Almeida. José Maria Mota charged in rather forcefully in the 9th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed José Maria Mota the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. José Maria Mota kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. Vitório Botelho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Lustosa's zone, Diguinho Schmidt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Walmyr Loureiro came out of the goal and Diguinho Schmidt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 14th match minute, Lustosa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlos Eduardo Palmeira to maneuver through the defense. After 17 played minutes Lustosa got a freekick which was hit by José Maria Mota. José Maria Mota hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. After 20 played minutes, Malu's Gino Mello shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Walmyr Loureiro came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Malu reached it. Vitório Botelho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Walmyr Loureiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Diguinho Schmidt in the 23rd minute of play. A very good chance. 28 minutes into the game, Elano Maia was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Lustosa's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Malu the free kick. In the 29th match minute, Lustosa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elano Maia to maneuver through the defense. The referee gave Malu a penalty, 31 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Gino Mello, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Lustosa's Walmyr Loureiro. 0-1. In the 34th minute, Diguinho Schmidt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Malu booed when Lustosa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tales Marinho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Walmyr Loureiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vitório Botelho in the 37th minute of play. If Vitório Botelho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Walmyr Loureiro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Diguinho Schmidt's shot from short distance in the 43rd minute. After the first half Malu were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell João Augusto de Almeida to make the kick off. João Augusto de Almeida recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 57 played minutes Malu got a freekick which was hit by Manoel Duarte. After 61 minutes, Diguinho Schmidt mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Malu and the Lustosa players grew even worse after the yellow card. Diguinho Schmidt kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. When Malu's Vitório Botelho in the 63rd minute got a chance for a shot 63rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Lustosa's goalie prevented a goal. Vitório Botelho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Walmyr Loureiro read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 64th minute of play. During the 66th minute of the match Elano Maia completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Elano Maia a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 67th match minute, Lustosa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elano Maia to maneuver through the defense. In the 68th minute of the match Gino Mello sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Walmyr Loureiro skillfully saved the ball. 71 minutes into the match, Lustosa's goal looked a bit too open when Vitório Botelho came free, but Walmyr Loureiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Walmyr Loureiro was a little too slow when Vitório Botelho got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 83rd minute. The score was now 0-2. Benedito Mazza charged in rather forcefully in the 86th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Benedito Mazza the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The goalkeeper, Walmyr Loureiro, was totally fooled by Malu's Gino Mello, who 88 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Malu's Vitório Botelho was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 91st play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. The Lustosa fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Malu were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
