Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Ricardinho Tasso took the kick off in the first half of the match. Gercinopolis SC's Carlos Fernando Cordeiro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 4th minute of the match, managed to save Gercinopolis SC from getting a goal against them. In the 5th minute of the match Tony Paiva shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ciro Montenegro showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After 7 minutes, Júlio de Castro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Atletico Grajaú and the Gercinopolis SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Gercinopolis SC booed when Atletico Grajaú was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Júlio de Castro didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Edgar Recife fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gercinopolis SC's protests and gave Edgar Recife a yellow card for diving instead. In the 8th match minute, Gercinopolis SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edgar Recife to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Gercinopolis SC's Carlos Fernando Cordeiro got control of the ball when Artur Peixoto tried to sneak it across the goal line. Edgar Recife fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ciro Montenegro having to interfere. Ricardinho Tasso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ciro Montenegro having to interfere. Gercinopolis SC's Carlos Fernando Cordeiro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save Gercinopolis SC from getting a goal against them. If Edgar Recife had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edgar Recife might have been able to make a better finish in the 32nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ciro Montenegro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edgar Recife ran back to his position shaking his head. Gercinopolis SC's Ricardinho Tasso got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Artur Peixoto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Fernando Cordeiro having to interfere. Artur Peixotos short, quick shot in the 40thth minute got Carlos Fernando Cordeiro to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After some careless play in the Atletico Grajaú defense, Edgar Recife kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ciro Montenegro. The Atletico Grajaú fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ciro Montenegro should have stopped the shot.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Júlio de Castro made a kick off. When Artur Peixoto came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Atletico Grajaú fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Artur Peixoto couldn't finish the play. In the 56th minute, Artur Peixoto got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Edgar Recife blasted a shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ciro Montenegro having to make a save. If Artur Peixoto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Cássio Silveira charged in rather forcefully in the 64th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cássio Silveira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After recieving a nice pass, Gercinopolis SC's Jefferson Leite tried to score from far away in the 65th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. If Júlio de Castro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edgar Recife received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Ciro Montenegro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 75 minutes into the game, Ricardinho Tasso cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Ciro Montenegro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In a very dangerous position, a player in Atletico Grajaú fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 78th minute. Penalty! Ciro Montenegro had in the 80thth minute some difficulties stopping Jefferson Leite's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 80th minute, Jefferson Leite left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Gercinopolis SC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. Atletico Grajaú's Ciro Montenegro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ricardinho Tasso in the 83rd minute of play. After 84 minutes, Flavinho Dante mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Atletico Grajaú and the Gercinopolis SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 84th minute, Flavinho Dante hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 87th minute the ball was on its way in behind Atletico Grajaú's goalkeeper Ciro Montenegro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Ciro Montenegro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ricardinho Tasso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Gercinopolis SC getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Ricardinho Tasso hit a great ball. Glauco de Barros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Ciro Montenegro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gercinopolis SC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
