After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Mané Perez managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nhambiquaras FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Mané Perez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Erik Sena breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Giovanni Messias during the 27th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Nhambiquaras FC booed when Cruzeiro Esporte Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Igor Tavares didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 40 played minutes Cruzeiro Esporte Clube got a freekick which was hit by Leonardo Loureiro. After recieving a nice pass, Nhambiquaras FC's Vitório da Mata tried to score from far away in the 41st minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. When the match clock showed 46 minutes, the score became 3-1 when Geovanni das Neves sped through Nhambiquaras FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Carlos Augusto Cearense. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Mané Perez made a kick off. In the 51st match minute, Nhambiquaras FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mané Perez to maneuver through the defense. Carlos Augusto Cearense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ediberto Mendonça, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Geovanni das Neves in the 53rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Carlos Augusto Cearense prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 55thth minute of the game Gilmar Paes who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Erik Sena was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience was convinced that Geovanni das Neves's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Carlos Augusto Cearense was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. A collision led to Nhambiquaras FC getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Gilmar Paes hit a great ball. 68 minutes into the match, Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Mané Perez came free, but Erik Sena reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Geovanni das Neves's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Carlos Augusto Cearense was relentless in the 83rd minute of the game. Carlos Augusto Cearense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vladimir Penha, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute.
