In the 2nd minute, Agostinho Maranhense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Guaiuba EC's Hortêncio Carioca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luiz Fernando Matos in the 10th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Danilo Netto in the 16th minute of play forced Montivedeu's goalkeeper José Maria Silva to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Iuri Rodrigues's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but José Maria Silva read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 17th minute of play. José Maria Silva breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. José Maria Silva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Danilo Netto in the 32nd minute of play. The supporters of Guaiuba EC booed when Montivedeu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anderson Maciel didn't get a good kick on the ball. 44 minutes into the match, Guaiuba EC's goalkeeper Hortêncio Carioca had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Zé Pedro Barbosa. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Iuri Rodrigues made a kick off. The referee ignored Montivedeu's protests and gave Nando Bertassi a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 65th minute of the game. One of Montivedeu:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Guaiuba EC:s goal. After 70 played minutes Guaiuba EC got a freekick which was hit by André Luís de Toledo. Raúl de Castro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hortêncio Carioca having to interfere. Gláuber Melo's late challenge caught a Guaiuba EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gláuber Melo helped the player get up and apologised. Gláuber Melo hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. Anselmo Gaspar charged in rather forcefully in the 83rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Anselmo Gaspar the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 84th match minute, Guaiuba EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anselmo Gaspar to maneuver through the defense.
