Aboboras's Celsinho Costa got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Celsinho Costa in the 20th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Emílio Mazza saved Coqueiro from getting behind. 22 minutes into the game, Michel Penha was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Aboboras's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Coqueiro the free kick. Michel Penha kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Claudinei Nunes in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Roberto Diniz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Roberto Diniz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Claudinei Nunes, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. After 29 played minutes, Aboboras's Ulisses Mattos shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Emílio Mazza came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Aboboras reached it. Coqueiro's Dino Carneiro got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Aboboras's Roberto Diniz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Claudinei Nunes in the 34th minute of play.
