Ulysses Cunha's late challenge caught a Clube Atlético Park's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ulysses Cunha helped the player get up and apologised. After 42 minutes of play Clube Atlético Park's Hermínio Leal was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After 42 played minutes Clube Atlético Park got a freekick which was hit by Hermínio Leal. Vítor de Almeida took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luiz Fábio de Senna, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 47 played minutes, Afua AD's Aluísio do Nascimento shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Vítor de Almeida came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Afua AD reached it. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The supporters of Clube Atlético Park booed when Afua AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rubinho Barros didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gualter Sá sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
