Piranguinho FC's Elias Novaes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Paulo Marques in the 3rd minute of play. Adalberto Couto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adalberto Mazza in the 5th minute of play. 10 minutes into the match, Piranguinho FC's Adalberto Mazza sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Adalberto Couto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Elias Novaes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Carlos Catarinense, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ian Senna recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 13th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Quatiba EC's Marcos Lopez got a free kick in the 14th minute. In the 16th match minute, Quatiba EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dorival Andrade to maneuver through the defense. Quatiba EC's Adalberto Couto proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save Quatiba EC from getting a goal against them. Quatiba EC's Adalberto Couto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adalberto Mazza in the 22nd minute of play. Túlio Cosme's late challenge caught a Quatiba EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Túlio Cosme helped the player get up and apologised. Ian Senna in the 37thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Adalberto Couto, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Adalberto Couto made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ian Senna in the 39th minute. In the 40th minute, Ian Senna ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Adalberto Couto was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Piranguinho FC's Elias Novaes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aílton Montenegro in the 43rd minute of play. If João Carlos Catarinense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when João Carlos Catarinense stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by João Carlos Catarinense in the 52nd minute of play forced Piranguinho FC's goalkeeper Elias Novaes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 55 played minutes Piranguinho FC got a freekick which was hit by Adalberto Mazza. Adalberto Mazza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Adalberto Mazza's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Adalberto Couto was relentless in the 62nd minute of the game. João Carlos Catarinense's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Elias Novaes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 69th minute of play. 79 minutes into the match, Piranguinho FC's goalkeeper Elias Novaes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Aílton Montenegro. Luís Paulo Marques charged in rather forcefully in the 81st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Luís Paulo Marques the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Aílton Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Elias Novaes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 86thth minute of the game João Carlos Catarinense who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Piranguinho FC's Elias Novaes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A collision led to Piranguinho FC getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Túlio Cosme hit a great ball. Piranguinho FC's Adalberto Mazza got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Quatiba EC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
