Upatininga FC's Joélson Castro suffered a concussion in the 2nd minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. After 2 minutes, Guto Cordeiro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Jovem Sport and the Upatininga FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. 7 minutes in the game, Reinaldo de Azevedo fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Christiano Tavares having to interfere. Evandro Pimenta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Víktor Veiga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 21 minutes, João Adolfo Secco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Jovem Sport's supporters crossed their fingers, but João Adolfo Secco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Víktor Veiga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Antônio Carlos Breckenfeld, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Christiano Tavares was a little too slow when Reinaldo de Azevedo got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 25th minute. The score was now 2-0. 30 minutes into the match, Jovem Sport's goal looked a bit too open when Antônio Carlos Breckenfeld came free, but Víktor Veiga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Antônio Carlos Breckenfeld took the ball and in the 32 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Víktor Veiga. Víktor Veiga dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. A collision led to Jovem Sport getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Arthur Dracena hit a great ball. Upatininga FC's attentive Leonel Nóbrega managed to snatch the ball when Cléber Britto made a throw-in in the 36th minute of the game. Christiano Tavares made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Arthur Dracena sent off a good shot on target. Reinaldo de Azevedo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. João Adolfo Secco was the one to do the kick off. Víktor Veiga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antônio Carlos Breckenfeld in the 54th minute of play. Víktor Veiga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Antônio Carlos Breckenfeld, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jovem Sport's defense didn't have a chance, in the 59th minute, when Antônio Carlos Breckenfeld scored to the left of an out of position Víktor Veiga, making the score, 2-2. João Adolfo Secco hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. João Adolfo Secco, 67 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Christiano Tavares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Adolfo Secco, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. In the 79th match minute, Upatininga FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Antônio Carlos Breckenfeld to maneuver through the defense. If Antônio Carlos Breckenfeld had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
