The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Giuseppe Salgado struck a weak shot in the 3rd minute. Artur Tinoco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Benigno. After 10 played minutes Benigno got a freekick which was hit by Márcio Guedes. In the 11th minute of the match Hélder Queirós shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ronaldo Tasso showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 11th match minute, Benigno was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Márcio Guedes to maneuver through the defense. Manolo Galvão's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ronaldo Tasso read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Haroldo Moraes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Curunhu AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Haroldo Moraes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ronaldo Tasso breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Rodriguinho Lara could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Artur Tinoco made a huge save. After 32 minutes, Giuseppe Salgado mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Benigno and the Curunhu AD players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 32nd match minute, Benigno was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Giuseppe Salgado to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Benigno's zone, Haroldo Moraes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ronaldo Tasso came out of the goal and Haroldo Moraes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Artur Tinoco made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when Rodriguinho Lara sent off a good shot on target. Benigno's Giuseppe Salgado was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 40th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Curunhu AD's Kauan Trigo got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Giuseppe Salgado to make the kick off. Giuseppe Salgado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Artur Tinoco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 55 minutes, Rodriguinho Lara managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Benigno's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rodriguinho Lara was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Giuseppe Salgado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Artur Tinoco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Giuseppe Salgado in the 59th minute of the match. In the 65th minute, Haroldo Moraes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 66th match minute, Benigno was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Márcio Guedes to maneuver through the defense. Ronaldo Tasso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Manolo Galvão's shot from short distance in the 68th minute. Manolo Galvão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A hard shot 83 in the game by Haroldo Moraes from a close distance when the talented Ronaldo Tasso managed to make a qualified save. Benigno's players were relieved. In the 83rd minute, Márcio Guedes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 1-1 became the score in the 84th minute when Haroldo Moraes elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. When Curunhu AD's Manolo Galvão in the 90th minute got a chance for a shot 90th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Benigno's goalie prevented a goal. Yan Vidal's late challenge caught a Benigno's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Yan Vidal helped the player get up and apologised. Yan Vidal hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. Giuseppe Salgado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Artur Tinoco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
