The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 2 minutes, João Paulo Koehler mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vaccacahy SS and the Catadupas players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Catadupas booed when Vaccacahy SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Paulo Koehler didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hernani Tróia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Natã Aguiar in the 5th minute of the match. With a little luck, Catadupas's Hernani Tróia got control of the ball when Arí Amorim tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 9 played minutes Denílson Tavares rounded Catadupas's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. After a rather tough play, Vaccacahy SS's Adrianinho Leme got a free kick in the 11th minute. 15 minutes into the game, Nildo Lago cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Chico Correia was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 20th minute, Catadupas's Erivaldo Arantes seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Erivaldo Arantes the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Catadupas protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Erivaldo Arantes had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. When the match had been going on for 22 minutes, Vaccacahy SS's Décio Travassos got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Hernani Tróia. If Leonel Araújo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Adrianinho Leme charged in rather forcefully in the 30th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Adrianinho Leme the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Vaccacahy SS's Arí Amorim got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 38th match minute, Catadupas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Yan Rossi to maneuver through the defense. In the 39th minute, Décio Travassos fired a really elegant long shot, but Hernani Tróia threw himself and managed to get hold of the ball just in front of the right post. Nildo Lago fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chico Correia having to interfere. Leonel Araújo struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Chico Correia didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Catadupas. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Natã Aguiar was the one to do the kick off. If Leonel Araújo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 54th minute, César Pires got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Hernani Tróia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Natã Aguiar in the 56th minute of play. 58 minutes into the match, Catadupas's goal looked a bit too open when Arí Amorim came free, but Hernani Tróia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Chico Correia made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nildo Lago in the 72nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arí Amorim in the 80th minute of play forced Catadupas's goalkeeper Hernani Tróia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Nildo Lago came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Catadupas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nildo Lago couldn't finish the play. In the 85th match minute, Catadupas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Yan Rossi to maneuver through the defense. Nildo Lago sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vaccacahy SS were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Catadupas for a fine match.
