If Cristian Monte had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Júlio Arantes made a fantastic save in the 6th minute, when Manfredo Donato sent off a good shot on target. With a little luck, Fiorentina FC's Júlio Arantes got control of the ball when Luís Esteves tried to sneak it across the goal line. Tolek Japola made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sílvio Luiz Bueno in the 18th minute of play. If Luís Esteves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. Chicão Leite fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tolek Japola having to interfere. After 26 minutes, Luís Esteves made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Fiorentina FC's Júlio Arantes tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot.
