In the 5th minute, Sidney Paraíba ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. João Carlos de Barros was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After 8 played minutes Massui got a freekick which was hit by Narciso Macedo. In the 9th minute Henrique Vale shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Acácio Lima saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Henrique Vale sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Acácio Lima made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tião Leme in the 15th minute. João Carlos de Barros came out of the goal in the 17th minute to try and stop a shot by Massui's Claudinei Prado. But to his dismay, Claudinei Prado quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Tião Leme who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 20thth minute tested the skills of Acácio Lima when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Naldo Cruz charged in rather forcefully in the 28th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Naldo Cruz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Naldo Cruz kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Tião Leme managed to get in a good position for a shot. Virtude EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Tião Leme was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Acácio Lima breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 45 minutes, Claudinei Prado managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Massui's supporters crossed their fingers, but Claudinei Prado was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Virtude EC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Massui were winning 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Claudinei Prado to make the kick off. After some careless play in the Massui defense, Henrique Vale kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Acácio Lima. The Massui fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Acácio Lima should have stopped the shot. Henrique Vale recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tião Leme fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Acácio Lima having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Henrique Vale in the 74th minute of play forced Massui's goalkeeper Acácio Lima to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Acácio Lima took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Henrique Vale, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Henrique Vale fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Acácio Lima having to interfere. The supporters of Massui booed when Virtude EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Iuri Leal didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Sidney Paraíba came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Massui fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sidney Paraíba couldn't finish the play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Massui walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
