Gugu Prado was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a defensive mix-up in Ciclón da Itapira's zone, Giovani Tavares stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Betão Albuquerque came out of the goal and Giovani Tavares tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Germano da Rocha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

In the 57th minute, Fabinho Coutinho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Erivaldo Rossi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. When Emanuel Gerber came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the Ciclón da Itapira fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Emanuel Gerber couldn't finish the play. Rabicho's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
