After 16 minutes Guivotas's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Betão Quintal who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Eduardo's corner Betão Quintal fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Flavinho Porto quite easily take care of the ball. A collision led to Guivotas getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Douglas Barreto hit a great ball. Eduardo's Geovanni Sampaio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Fernando Correia in the 22nd minute of play. In the 25th minute, Carlos Fernando Correia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Guivotas booed when Eduardo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sebastião de Amorim didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carlos Fernando Correia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Geovanni Sampaio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Guivotas's Narciso Garcia got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Flavinho Porto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcelo de Castro, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. After a rather tough play, Eduardo's Betão Quintal got a free kick in the 43rd minute. The supporters of Guivotas booed when Eduardo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcelo de Castro didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jeferson de Godoy in the 47th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Geovanni Sampaio saved Eduardo from getting behind. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Marcelo de Castro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 62 minutes in the game, Jeferson de Godoy fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Geovanni Sampaio having to interfere. Flavinho Porto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcelo de Castro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Eduardo's zone, Jeferson de Godoy stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Geovanni Sampaio came out of the goal and Jeferson de Godoy tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the match had gone on for 78 minutes, Marcelo de Castro put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Flavinho Porto. Flavinho Porto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcelo de Castro in the 84th minute of the match. After having played for 91 minutes, Marcelo de Castro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Eduardo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcelo de Castro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Gugu Proença had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Flavinho Porto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcelo de Castro, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. Guivotas's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
