In the 12th minute, Rui de Souza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Silvinho Bastos was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 13th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. João Francisco Soares hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. Alex Urbano made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Claudinho Luz sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulo Renato Passos in the 17th minute of play forced Dracena EC's goalkeeper Gonçalo Britto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 17 minutes into the game, Paulo Renato Passos cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Gonçalo Britto was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Duarte da Costa got free with Alex Urbano in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Artur Félix kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. When Paulo Renato Passos came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Guamirim fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paulo Renato Passos couldn't finish the play. After 28 played minutes Dracena EC got a freekick which was hit by Duarte da Costa. If Zé Carlos Gomes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The wind increased when Jânio Paulista made the kick off in the second half. Jânio Paulista hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. João Francisco Soares was shown his second yellow card after 55 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After a rather tough play, Guamirim's João Francisco Soares got a free kick in the 56th minute. Claudinho Luz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Alex Urbano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Dracena EC booed when Guamirim was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rui de Souza didn't get a good kick on the ball. Silvinho Bastos, 61 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Claudinho Luz in the 64th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Alex Urbano saved Guamirim from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Dracena EC's zone, Paulo Renato Passos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gonçalo Britto came out of the goal and Paulo Renato Passos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Paulo Renato Passos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Gonçalo Britto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Dracena EC getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Silvinho Bastos hit a great ball. Jânio Paulista fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gonçalo Britto having to interfere. 73 minutes into the game, Guamirim's Jânio Paulista nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gonçalo Britto made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Artur Félix sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out.
