Abelardo Bastos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With his leg Abelardo Bastos managed to avoid a goal in the 13thth minute, when Solidao SS's Valdemar Dracena fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Abelardo Bastos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Alberto de Alcântara in the 14th minute of play. A collision led to Solidao SS getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Donatello Fonseca hit a great ball. 25 minutes into the game, Extracao's Rafinha Pena nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jorge Vidal made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. The supporters of Solidao SS booed when Extracao was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliseu Guimarães didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Valdemar Dracena got free with Abelardo Bastos in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jorge Vidal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eliseu Guimarães in the 31st minute of play. Jorge Vidal stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Eliseu Guimarães's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. 37 minutes into the match, Solidao SS's Valdemar Dracena sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Abelardo Bastos narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Eliseu Guimarães had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Extracao's zone, Carlos Alberto de Alcântara stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Abelardo Bastos came out of the goal and Carlos Alberto de Alcântara tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rafinha Pena received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Jorge Vidal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Carlos Alberto de Alcântara was the one to do the kick off. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Eliseu Guimarães in the 73rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jorge Vidal saved Solidao SS from getting behind. Agnaldo Prestes hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. In the 77th minute, Carlos Alberto de Alcântara got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 78th match minute, Extracao was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Agnaldo Prestes to maneuver through the defense. If Valdemar Dracena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Solidao SS's Carlos Alberto de Alcântara in the 82nd minute got a chance for a shot 82nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie.
