Nova Carapina FC's attack was well implemented in the 7th minute, but when Arnaldo Carioca was about to shoot he didn't get a good hit on the ball and it hit the crossbar and flew over. Goal Kick. In the 9th minute Arnaldo Carioca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Claudinho Gaspar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 10th match minute, Curuay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zézinho Borges to maneuver through the defense. If Duarte Fontes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Arnaldo Carioca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Duarte Fontes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Arnaldo Carioca blasted a shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Claudinho Gaspar having to make a save. Joaquim Sena kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. A collision led to Curuay getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Joaquim Sena hit a great ball. If Washington Bastos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 34th minute Arnaldo Carioca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Claudinho Gaspar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Claudinho Gaspar stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Arnaldo Carioca's shot from short distance in the 39th minute. In the 43rd minute, Washington Bastos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Claudinho Gaspar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sidnei Pernambucano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Arnaldo Carioca made the kick off in the second half. Claudinho Gaspar stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Arnaldo Carioca's shot from short distance in the 56th minute. Curuay's Claudinho Gaspar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arnaldo Carioca in the 57th minute of play. After having played for 60 minutes, Duarte Fontes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Nova Carapina FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Duarte Fontes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Duarte Fontes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arnaldo Carioca received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Claudinho Gaspar came out and tried to block the shot, but Arnaldo Carioca slotted it home off the left post making it 0-1 in the 64th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Nova Carapina FC's Duarte Fontes slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Claudinho Gaspar. That made the score 0-2 after 71 minutes of play. Claudinho Gaspar made a fantastic save in the 75th minute, when Duarte Fontes sent off a good shot on target. If Duarte Fontes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gláuber Ortiz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Orlando Senna went, in the 79th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. After 87 minutes, Zézinho Borges mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Curuay and the Nova Carapina FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 87th minute, Zézinho Borges hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Curuay's defense didn't have a chance, in the 88th minute, when Arnaldo Carioca scored to the left of an out of position Claudinho Gaspar, making the score, 1-3. In the 92nd minute, Nova Carapina FC's Arnaldo Carioca dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-4. Gláuber Ortiz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Orlando Senna in the 96th minute of the match.
