Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Sombra's Simão Pimenta started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Hélio Carneiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Clube Atlético Mineiro's Rodolfo Meirelles got a good chance for a goal in the 6th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Matheus Gaúcho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rafa Mineiro having to interfere. If Matheus Gaúcho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rafa Mineiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Simão Pimenta in the 16th minute of play. Tostão Amaral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodolfo Meirelles in the 17th minute of play. In the 21st match minute, Sombra was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Matheus Amorim to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Sombra's zone, Hélio Carneiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tostão Amaral came out of the goal and Hélio Carneiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ciro de Sena charged in rather forcefully in the 25th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ciro de Sena the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Clube Atlético Mineiro booed when Sombra was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ciro de Sena didn't get a good kick on the ball. 27 minutes into the match, Sombra's goal looked a bit too open when Hélio Carneiro came free, but Tostão Amaral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 28 minutes into the game, Romário Montenegro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Clube Atlético Mineiro's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sombra the free kick. Romário Montenegro hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Ciro de Sena missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 30 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Rafa Mineiro right hand side. 34 minutes into the match, Rodolfo Meirelles had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tostão Amaral. Sombra's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rodolfo Meirelles was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 44th minute, Matheus Amorim got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Sombra's Ciro de Sena got a free kick in the 47th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rodolfo Meirelles was the one to do the kick off. Cacá Tavares charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cacá Tavares the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 56th minute, one of Sombra:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Sombra. 66 minutes into the match, Clube Atlético Mineiro's Rodolfo Meirelles sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tostão Amaral narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Vivaldo Koehler received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Rafa Mineiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Matheus Gaúcho came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Sombra fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Matheus Gaúcho couldn't finish the play. After 73 played minutes Clube Atlético Mineiro got a freekick which was hit by Geovanni Campidelis. Hélio Carneiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Clube Atlético Mineiro booed when Sombra was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Matheus Amorim didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 88th minute, Matheus Gaúcho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Matheus Gaúcho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 96 minutes into the match, Sombra's Matheus Gaúcho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rafa Mineiro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 98 minutes into the match, Matheus Gaúcho notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Clube Atlético Mineiro's Rafa Mineiro. Rafa Mineiro was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Although Sombra had been in control for most of the match, Clube Atlético Mineiro still came away with the win.
