Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Nelson Couto started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Diogo Leite made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Geovanni Furtado in the 3rd minute of play. Maurinho Gaúcho came out of the goal in the 6th minute to try and stop a shot by Sport Club Corinthians's Nelson Couto. But to his dismay, Nelson Couto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Nelson Couto struck a weak shot in the 9th minute. Maurinho Gaúcho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sport Club Corinthians. Sport Club Corinthians's attentive Eriberto Arce managed to snatch the ball when João Vítor de Toledo made a throw-in in the 16th minute of the game. With a little luck, Coritiba Futebol Club's Maurinho Gaúcho got control of the ball when Nelson Couto tried to sneak it across the goal line. Sport Club Corinthians's Nelson Couto came free and shot a quick shot against goal 25 minutes in the game, fortunately Maurinho Gaúcho had problems saving as it came toward the left post. Sport Club Corinthians's Diogo Leite played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Willian Moreno in the 29th minute of play. Maurinho Gaúcho made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nelson Couto in the 32nd minute. The supporters of Sport Club Corinthians booed when Coritiba Futebol Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ernesto Bastos didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fred Hoffmann in the 34th minute of play forced Coritiba Futebol Club's goalkeeper Maurinho Gaúcho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Diogo Leite came out of the goal in the 42nd minute to try and stop a shot by Coritiba Futebol Club's Willian Moreno. But to his dismay, Willian Moreno quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Diogo Leite showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Osvaldinho Fonseca, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. In the 61st minute, Nelson Couto ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Maurinho Gaúcho was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. 69 minutes into the game, Nelson Couto cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Maurinho Gaúcho was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Maurinho Gaúcho stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nelson Couto's shot from short distance in the 77th minute. When Claudinei de Andrade came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Sport Club Corinthians fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Claudinei de Andrade couldn't finish the play. 81 minutes into the match, Coritiba Futebol Club's goal looked a bit too open when Nelson Couto came free, but Maurinho Gaúcho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 84th minute Nelson Couto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Maurinho Gaúcho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Fred Hoffmann came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Sport Club Corinthians fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fred Hoffmann couldn't finish the play.
