The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Régis Perez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leonardo Barbosa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Raimundo Cabral hit a great ball. In the 10th minute of the match Bebeto Varela shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Régis Perez showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Leonardo Barbosa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Régis Perez having to make a save. In the 14th match minute, Fúria was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by João Adolfo Sarmento to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Diguinho Baiano in the 17th minute of play forced Guedes's goalkeeper Régis Perez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Paulo Renato de Souza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sebastião Castro having to interfere. Hermínio de Castro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Leonardo Barbosa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Régis Perez having to make a save. João Adolfo Sarmento recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Leonardo Barbosa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Régis Perez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diguinho Baiano in the 30th minute of the match. If Leonardo Barbosa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 38 minutes into the match, Guedes's goal looked a bit too open when João Adolfo Sarmento came free, but Régis Perez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Fúria getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Diguinho Baiano hit a great ball. Fúria's Sebastião Castro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 41st minute of the match, managed to save Fúria from getting a goal against them. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Olavo Rosado to make the kick off. Leonardo Barbosa's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 52ndth minute, Régis Perez skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After 52 minutes, Egídio Sampaio mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Guedes and the Fúria players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 53 played minutes Guedes got a freekick which was hit by Egídio Sampaio. Sebastião Castro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Olavo Rosado in the 58th minute of the match. In the 62nd minute, Paulo Renato de Souza ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sebastião Castro was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. After 73 minutes, Diguinho Baiano mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Fúria and the Guedes players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 73 played minutes Fúria got a freekick which was hit by Diguinho Baiano. Leonardo Barbosa might have been able to make a better finish in the 76th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Régis Perez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Leonardo Barbosa ran back to his position shaking his head. After 77 played minutes Fúria got a freekick which was hit by João Adolfo Sarmento. With his leg Régis Perez managed to avoid a goal in the 80thth minute, when Fúria's Leonardo Barbosa fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Olavo Rosado managed to get in a good position for a shot. Guedes's supporters rose to their feet, but Olavo Rosado was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sebastião Castro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Diguinho Baiano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Leonardo Barbosa kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Régis Perez. That made the score 1-2 in the 86 minute of play. When Chicão Diniz fell near the penalty area in the 94th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Fúria's protests and gave Chicão Diniz a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Fúria's Chicão Diniz got a free kick in the 94th minute.
