In the 27th minute, Vladimir Mendonça got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luiz Fábio Oliveira in the 28th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ademir Vides saved Savage from getting behind. Ademir Vides took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vladimir Mendonça, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 34 minutes into the match, Luiz Fábio Oliveira had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ademir Vides. Savage's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luiz Fábio Oliveira was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 39 minutes into the match, Savage's goal looked a bit too open when Vitinho Britto came free, but Ademir Vides reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ademir Vides showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luiz Fábio Oliveira in the 42nd minute of the match. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
