If Dorival Albuquerque had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Adrianinho Félix took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wesley Gerber, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Wesley Gerber in the 8th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Adrianinho Félix prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Tamboral SS's Luizão Carioca shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 10th minute of play. The shot was stopped by João Paulo Pires but with some difficulty. After a rather tough play, Tamboral SS's Luizão Carioca got a free kick in the 11th minute. In the 12th minute of the match Toninho Leme shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Adrianinho Félix showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 19th minute, Wesley Gerber got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. João Paulo Pires showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Oscar Moreno, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wesley Gerber in the 30th minute of play forced Tamboral SS's goalkeeper Adrianinho Félix to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Tamboral SS getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Fiori Esteves hit a great ball. Wesley Gerber fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adrianinho Félix having to interfere. In the 34th minute, Wesley Gerber got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Noel Galvão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Adrianinho Félix tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The supporters of Nacional Futebol Clube booed when Tamboral SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fiori Esteves didn't get a good kick on the ball. João Paulo Pires came out of the goal and Dorival Albuquerque tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Erasmo Ortiz fell near the penalty area in the 78th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Nacional Futebol Clube's protests and gave Erasmo Ortiz a yellow card for diving instead. After 83 played minutes Tamboral SS got a freekick which was hit by Hermínio Carvalho. After some fancy dribbling in the 84th minute, Toninho Leme managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nacional Futebol Clube's supporters rose to their feet, but Toninho Leme was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Adrianinho Félix breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Nacional Futebol Clube's zone, Fiori Esteves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. João Paulo Pires came out of the goal and Fiori Esteves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Nacional Futebol Clube walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
