Tony Araújo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Germano Guimarães, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. With his leg Albertinho de Carvalho managed to avoid a goal in the 7thth minute, when Bahia's Tony Loureiro fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After 8 played minutes Bahia got a freekick which was hit by Jon Högman. Tony Araújo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Germano Guimarães, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bahia's Tony Araújo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oswaldo Peixoto in the 10th minute of play. Tony Loureiro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Albertinho de Carvalho read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 12th minute of play. Tony Araújo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Germano Guimarães in the 14th minute of play. 17 minutes into the match, Bahia's goal looked a bit too open when Durvalino Moraes came free, but Tony Araújo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Germano Guimarães in the 19th minute of play forced Bahia's goalkeeper Tony Araújo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 21st minute, Joaquim Vasconcelos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Germano Guimarães in the 22nd minute of play forced Bahia's goalkeeper Tony Araújo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tony Loureiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Albertinho de Carvalho having to interfere. In the 30th minute Durvalino Moraes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tony Araújo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tony Araújo came out of the goal in the 33rd minute to try and stop a shot by Anhandui's Oswaldo Peixoto. But to his dismay, Oswaldo Peixoto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. When Zé Roberto Abreu came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Bahia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zé Roberto Abreu couldn't finish the play. Giovanni Hames received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Albertinho de Carvalho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tony Loureiro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Bahia's goal looked a bit too open when Germano Guimarães came free, but Tony Araújo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 53 minutes into the match, Bahia's goalkeeper Tony Araújo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Durvalino Moraes. In the 55th minute, Tony Loureiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jon Högman hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. The throw-in from Emílio Fonseca in the 62nd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Bahia's Joaquim Vasconcelos. Jon Högman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Durvalino Moraes in the 65th minute of play forced Bahia's goalkeeper Tony Araújo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Germano Guimarães in the 69th minute of play forced Bahia's goalkeeper Tony Araújo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Anhandui's Albertinho de Carvalho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jon Högman in the 70th minute of play. 74 minutes into the game, Germano Guimarães was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Anhandui's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bahia the free kick. Germano Guimarães hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. When Bahia's Tony Loureiro in the 76th minute got a chance for a shot 76th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Anhandui's goalie prevented a goal. In the 81st minute of the game Dagoberto Salgado made a throw-in which Germano Guimarães played forward. In the 85th minute, Marcelinho Barbosa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tony Araújo made a fantastic save in the 88th minute, when Waldemar Travassos sent off a good shot on target. After some careless play in the Anhandui defense, Tony Loureiro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Albertinho de Carvalho. The Anhandui fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Albertinho de Carvalho should have stopped the shot. Tony Araújo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Waldemar Travassos in the 97th minute. For all the effort they put into the match, the Anhandui players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Bahia.
