Cruzilia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hermínio Mangueira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Reviravolta FC getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Belmiro Meireles hit a great ball. After the first half Cruzilia were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Armando Quadros made a kick off. Célio Cardoso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Armindo Amorim, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 59th play minute Hermínio Mangueira came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Célio Cardoso. 0-2. Reviravolta FC's Armando Quadros got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Hermínio Mangueira's late challenge caught a Reviravolta FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hermínio Mangueira helped the player get up and apologised. Reviravolta FC were awarded a corner in the 71th minute after Cruzilia's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Dagoberto Arruda took the corner. After taking down the ball on Reviravolta FC's corner Dagoberto Arruda fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Afonsinho da Silva quite easily take care of the ball. In the 73rd minute, Armando Quadros left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Reviravolta FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Armando Quadros in the 89th minute of play forced Cruzilia's goalkeeper Afonsinho da Silva to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Belmiro Meireles hit a great ball. 96 minutes into the match, Cruzilia's Mazinho Vieira broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. The Cruzilia supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Cruzilia would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
