In the 6th minute, Gino de Azevedo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 8th minute Gino de Azevedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Walmyr Paiva saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Henrique de Sousa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Walmyr Paiva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 11 minutes into the match, Variante SC's Gino de Azevedo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Walmyr Paiva narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Leonel Braga kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. In the 15th minute, Rômulo de Toledo sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Paulista F.C.'s Walmyr Paiva didn't even have to move. Gino de Azevedo did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Walmyr Paiva 17 minutes into the match. Walmyr Paiva showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gino de Azevedo in the 28th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ruy Quintal during the 32nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 38th minute, Henrique de Sousa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 39 minutes into the match, Paulista F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Gino de Azevedo came free, but Walmyr Paiva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Henrique de Sousa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 42nd minute of the match, but Walmyr Paiva made a huge save. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rafael Vale to make the kick off. After 53 played minutes Variante SC got a freekick which was hit by Ruy Quintal. Mazinho de Amorim charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mazinho de Amorim the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 57th match minute, Paulista F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mazinho de Amorim to maneuver through the defense. The audience cheered when Rômulo de Toledo's long shot passed Walmyr Paiva's right side. It was 2-0, 58 minutes into the match.
