The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Michel de Souza during the 2nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Variante SC getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Michel de Souza hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Guaimbe's Ian Porto got a free kick in the 4th minute. 5 minutes into the match, Guaimbe's goal looked a bit too open when Gino de Azevedo came free, but Nelsinho Marquez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nelsinho Marquez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Henrique de Sousa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 14 minutes into the match, Gino de Azevedo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nelsinho Marquez. Guaimbe's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gino de Azevedo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 16th minute, Ian Porto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Henrique de Sousa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Nelsinho Marquez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Guaimbe's Murilo do Nascimento slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jacinto Linares. That made the score 1-1 after 23 minutes of play. Anselmo Linhares lost his temper 27 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 32nd minute, Gino de Azevedo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 33rd match minute, Guaimbe was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Renan Quintal to maneuver through the defense. Nelsinho Marquez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gino de Azevedo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 35th minute, Renan Quintal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Guaimbe's Nelsinho Marquez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gino de Azevedo in the 36th minute of play. When Cafu Cardozo fell near the penalty area in the 36th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Guaimbe's protests and gave Cafu Cardozo a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Variante SC booed when Guaimbe was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cafu Cardozo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 37 played minutes Variante SC got a freekick which was hit by Henrique de Sousa.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Severino Nóbrega stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Guaimbe getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Cristiano Machado hit a great ball. With an all-out effort, Variante SC's Nelsinho Marquez threw himself towards the right post 57 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Gino de Azevedo, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 58th minute of the match, Gino de Azevedo tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Nelsinho Marquez saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 59th match minute, Guaimbe was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Renan Quintal to maneuver through the defense. Nelsinho Marquez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gino de Azevedo in the 60th minute of play. A collision led to Variante SC getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Rômulo de Toledo hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Severino Nóbrega in the 65th minute of play forced Variante SC's goalkeeper Jacinto Linares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 66 minutes into the match, Severino Nóbrega had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jacinto Linares. Variante SC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Severino Nóbrega was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. Jacinto Linares was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Gino de Azevedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Nelsinho Marquez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Henrique de Sousa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nelsinho Marquez having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Variante SC's zone, Severino Nóbrega stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jacinto Linares came out of the goal and Severino Nóbrega tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jacinto Linares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cafu Cardozo in the 86th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Severino Nóbrega in the 91st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jacinto Linares saved Variante SC from getting behind. Jacinto Linares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Severino Nóbrega, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gino de Azevedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Nelsinho Marquez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 96 minutes into the match, Variante SC's Gino de Azevedo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nelsinho Marquez narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Cristiano Machado's late challenge caught a Variante SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cristiano Machado helped the player get up and apologised.
