Chapeo FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Maurício Lopez was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. When Dida Motta came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Chapeo FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dida Motta couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dida Motta in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pedro Augusto Messias saved Cinzas from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Cinzas's zone, Dida Motta stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedro Augusto Messias came out of the goal and Dida Motta tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jonathan Medeiros charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. After a rather tough play, Cinzas's Jonathan Medeiros got a free kick in the 37th minute. 38 minutes into the match, Cinzas's goal looked a bit too open when Dagoberto Mazza came free, but Pedro Augusto Messias reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 39 minutes, Tarcisio Neiva mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cinzas and the Chapeo FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 39 played minutes Cinzas got a freekick which was hit by Tarcisio Neiva. The referee gave Chapeo FC a penalty, 44 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Nelson de Barros, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Cinzas's Pedro Augusto Messias. 1-1. In the 47th minute Dida Motta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Augusto Messias saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dida Motta to make the kick off. In the 65th minute, Basílio Coelho made a precise shot to the right of Tomé Queirós. Chapeo FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Maurício Lopez managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cinzas's supporters rose to their feet, but Maurício Lopez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tomé Queirós breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Chapeo FC's Tomé Queirós played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maurício Lopez in the 72nd minute of play. 81 minutes into the game, Dida Motta cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-2. Pedro Augusto Messias was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Cinzas were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest.
