If Hélio de Moraes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 6th match minute, Black Sportes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benê Tróia to maneuver through the defense. In the 9thth minute of the game Edvaldo Chaves who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Black Sportes's Carlos Freire was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A collision led to Black Sportes getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. João Francisco Xavier hit a great ball. When Edvaldo Chaves came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Nipoan fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edvaldo Chaves couldn't finish the play. Edvaldo Chaves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Carlos Freire tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Falcão Meirelles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 20th minute of the match Bruno Carioca shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Carlos Freire showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Falcão Meirelles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 24th minute, Sílvio Luís Brodel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 28 minutes into the match, Black Sportes's goalkeeper Carlos Freire had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Renato Bittencourt. Edvaldo Chaves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Hélio de Moraes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Black Sportes's supporters rose to their feet, but Hélio de Moraes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jardel Cearense breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Carlos Freire made an important save on a dangerous shot by Renato Bittencourt in the 41st minute. Jardel Cearense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Falcão Meirelles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 46 minutes into the match, Hélio de Moraes notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Nipoan's Jardel Cearense. Jardel Cearense was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Black Sportes's Carlos Freire played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Renato Bittencourt in the 52nd minute of play. In the 67th minute Edvaldo Chaves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Freire saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Carlos Freire didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Edvaldo Chaves went, in the 68th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. After a defensive mix-up in Black Sportes's zone, Renato Bittencourt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carlos Freire came out of the goal and Renato Bittencourt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Nipoan booed when Black Sportes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Francisco Xavier didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 75th minute, Didi Pinheiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 83rdth minute of the game Edvaldo Chaves who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Black Sportes's Carlos Freire was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Falcão Meirelles recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 97 minutes into the match, Black Sportes's goal looked a bit too open when Edvaldo Chaves came free, but Carlos Freire reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Black Sportes players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
