C.'s Bernardo Romero got a good chance for a goal in the 4th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bernardo Romero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Silas Amaral having to interfere. Silas Amaral made an important save on a dangerous shot by Adelino Vieira in the 9th minute. Silas Amaral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dinei Silva in the 10th minute of the match. Dinei Silva blasted a shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Silas Amaral having to make a save. 13 minutes into the match, MONTES CLAROS F. C.'s Cláudio de Azevedo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Silas Amaral narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Silas Amaral made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bernardo Romero in the 16th minute. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind MONTES CLAROS F. C.'s goalkeeper Thiago Castro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Perivaldo Dracena in the 28th minute of play forced MONTES CLAROS F. C.'s goalkeeper Thiago Castro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to MONTES CLAROS F. C. getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Kauã Ferraz hit a great ball. Silas Amaral made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bernardo Romero in the 31st minute. Lamounier SC's Silas Amaral proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to save Lamounier SC from getting a goal against them. MONTES CLAROS F. C.'s Thiago Castro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Perivaldo Dracena in the 35th minute of play. 37 minutes into the match, MONTES CLAROS F. C.'s Bernardo Romero sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Silas Amaral narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Bernardo Romero came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the MONTES CLAROS F. C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bernardo Romero couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Lamounier SC's zone, Bernardo Romero stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Silas Amaral came out of the goal and Bernardo Romero tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. MONTES CLAROS F. C. made a substitution. Rubens Fontes replaced Chuck Mcjunkins. A collision led to MONTES CLAROS F. C. getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Cássio Tepedino hit a great ball. Dinei Silva struck a weak shot in the 48th minute. Silas Amaral didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for MONTES CLAROS F. C.. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Perivaldo Dracena was the one to do the kick off. Silas Amaral came out of the goal in the 53rd minute to try and stop a shot by MONTES CLAROS F. C.'s Bernardo Romero. But to his dismay, Bernardo Romero quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. In the 67th minute, Cássio Tepedino ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Silas Amaral was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. In the 74thth minute of the game Bernardo Romero who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Lamounier SC's Silas Amaral was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 75th minute, Bernardo Romero got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cláudio de Azevedo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 84th minute Cláudio de Azevedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Silas Amaral saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Valdemar Sena recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Dinei Silva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bernardo Romero might have been able to make a better finish in the 92nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Silas Amaral. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bernardo Romero ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 93rd minute, Dinei Silva got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nilmar Sabóia charged in rather forcefully in the 96th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nilmar Sabóia the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 98 played minutes Lamounier SC got a freekick which was hit by Nilmar Sabóia. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. MONTES CLAROS F. C. fully deserved thier win.
