Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Válbson Barral kicked off to start the match. After 3 minutes of play, Pomba SS's Válbson Barral made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gualter França was left in no man's land by his defense there! 8 minutes into the match, Pomba SS's goal looked a bit too open when José Pedro de Medeiros came free, but Teodoro Cerezo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 10 minutes into the match, Benedito Favoretto notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Pomba SS's Teodoro Cerezo. Teodoro Cerezo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. With a little luck, Pomba SS's Teodoro Cerezo got control of the ball when Benedito Favoretto tried to sneak it across the goal line. Maracana SS's Gualter França played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tony Quirino in the 14th minute of play. Teodoro Cerezo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Benedito Favoretto in the 18th minute. Gualter França made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Válbson Barral in the 20th minute of play. Benedito Favoretto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Teodoro Cerezo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. José Pedro de Medeiros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Teodoro Cerezo having to interfere. Tony Quirino might have been able to make a better finish in the 26th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gualter França. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tony Quirino ran back to his position shaking his head. If José Pedro de Medeiros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Benedito Favoretto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Chicão Novaes charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Chicão Novaes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Chicão Novaes kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Válbson Barral in the 45th minute of play forced Maracana SS's goalkeeper Gualter França to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell José Pedro de Medeiros to make the kick off. In the 59th minute, one of Pomba SS:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Pomba SS. After 64 minutes, Raí Netto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Pomba SS and the Maracana SS players grew even worse after the yellow card. Maracana SS's Válbson Carneiro couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 65th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Pomba SS. 70 minutes into the match, Maracana SS's goal looked a bit too open when Válbson Barral came free, but Gualter França reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Maracana SS getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Didi Massa hit a great ball. In the 79th minute Válbson Barral shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gualter França saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Válbson Carneiro hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. Teodoro Cerezo came out of the goal in the 91st minute to try and stop a shot by Maracana SS's Benedito Favoretto. But to his dismay, Benedito Favoretto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. After a defensive mix-up in Maracana SS's zone, Válbson Barral stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gualter França came out of the goal and Válbson Barral tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Maracana SS fans cheered their team off the field, for while Pomba SS had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
