Leopoldo Veloso hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. After 10 played minutes Corinthians F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Sidnei Carvalho. The supporters of Barbalha EC booed when Corinthians F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adhemar Arantes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Raúl Arce fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manuel Garcia having to interfere. William Vaz hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Manuel Garcia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raúl Arce, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cacá Silveira in the 22nd minute of play forced Barbalha EC's goalkeeper Manuel Garcia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Corinthians F.C.'s Cacá Silveira got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 29th minute of the match, Murillo Coutinho tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Dorival Esteves saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cacá Silveira in the 34th minute of play forced Barbalha EC's goalkeeper Manuel Garcia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sandro Koehler charged in rather forcefully in the 34th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sandro Koehler the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 35 played minutes Barbalha EC got a freekick which was hit by Sandro Koehler. In the 36th minute of the match Naldo Fontes shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Manuel Garcia showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 36th minute, William Vaz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Barbalha EC's Manuel Garcia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cacá Silveira in the 45th minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luizão Gonçalves made a kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Barbalha EC's goal looked a bit too open when Luizão Gonçalves came free, but Manuel Garcia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 59 minutes, Basílio Santos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Barbalha EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Basílio Santos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Murillo Coutinho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dorival Esteves having to make a save. The crowd rose to their feet as Luizão Gonçalves kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Manuel Garcia. That made the score 0-1 in the 67 minute of play. In the 69th match minute, Corinthians F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cacá Silveira to maneuver through the defense. 79 minutes into the game, Corinthians F.C.'s Raúl Arce nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Manuel Garcia made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. In the 83rd match minute, Barbalha EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by João Pedro Varela to maneuver through the defense. If Murillo Coutinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
