The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 7th minute, Pedrão Pimenta got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 13th minute Sidnei Amaral shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cássio Santos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Clemente Dias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Jaguarita getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Waldemar Macedo hit a great ball. Sidnei Amaral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cássio Santos having to interfere. Raimundo Mello fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Claudinei Soeiro having to interfere. 32 minutes into the game, Desagua's Raimundo Mello nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Claudinei Soeiro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Juvenal Saraiva kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sidnei Amaral was the one to do the kick off. Clemente Dias's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 51stth minute, Cássio Santos skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Pedrão Pimenta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Jaguarita's zone, Raimundo Mello stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Claudinei Soeiro came out of the goal and Raimundo Mello tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sidnei Amaral scored 1-1 in the 57th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Cássio Santos, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 64th minute Sidnei Amaral shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cássio Santos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Raimundo Mello had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Orlando Sabóia's late challenge caught a Desagua's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Orlando Sabóia helped the player get up and apologised. After 73 played minutes Jaguarita got a freekick which was hit by Orlando Sabóia. Cássio Santos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sidnei Amaral in the 76th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Desagua's zone, Clemente Dias stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cássio Santos came out of the goal and Clemente Dias tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Jaguarita booed when Desagua was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcel Baiano didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Clemente Dias got free with Cássio Santos in the 81st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jaguarita's Clemente Dias got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 89 minutes into the game, Marcel Baiano was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Desagua's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Jaguarita the free kick. A collision led to Desagua getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Marcel Baiano hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Orlando Sabóia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Jaguarita's supporters rose to their feet, but Orlando Sabóia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cássio Santos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
