Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Gernando Moura kicked off to start the match. After having played for 3 minutes, Osvaldinho Hames managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Funchal's supporters crossed their fingers, but Osvaldinho Hames was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Luciano Fantini's late challenge caught a Funchal's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luciano Fantini helped the player get up and apologised. Luciano Fantini kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. Osvaldinho Hames sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gernando Moura in the 12th minute of play forced Funchal's goalkeeper Anselmo Chaves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Palmeiras's Jorginho Duarte played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Osvaldinho Hames in the 14th minute of play. In the 17th minute Doriva Fantini shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jorginho Duarte saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sidnei Amaral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorginho Duarte having to interfere. Doriva Fantini recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 30 played minutes Funchal got a freekick which was hit by Sidnei Amaral. 41 minutes into the match, Palmeiras's goal looked a bit too open when Doriva Fantini came free, but Jorginho Duarte reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 41st minute, Luciano Fantini hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Osvaldinho Hames to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Osvaldinho Hames managed to get in a good position for a shot. Funchal's supporters rose to their feet, but Osvaldinho Hames was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jorginho Duarte breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sidnei Amaral could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 57th minute of the match, but Jorginho Duarte made a huge save. Hugo Rezende kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. After 62 played minutes Funchal got a freekick which was hit by Jean Messias. If Doriva Fantini had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Chico de Godoy hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. Osvaldinho Hames struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Jorginho Duarte didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Funchal. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Osvaldinho Hames managed to get in a good position for a shot. Funchal's supporters rose to their feet, but Osvaldinho Hames was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jorginho Duarte breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Téo Paraense in the 88th minute of play forced Funchal's goalkeeper Anselmo Chaves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Osvaldinho Hames sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Palmeiras's Jorginho Duarte proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 91st minute of the match, managed to save Palmeiras from getting a goal against them. Funchal were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Palmeiras to leave the ground with a draw.
