Mineiros-GO's Zézinho Bezerra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gernando Moura in the 6th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Téo Paraense in the 7th minute of play forced Mineiros-GO's goalkeeper Zézinho Bezerra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Ertuğrul Yaşam had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When the match had gone on for 11 minutes, Ertuğrul Yaşam put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Jorginho Duarte. Gernando Moura charged in rather forcefully in the 13th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gernando Moura the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Mineiros-GO booed when Palmeiras was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gernando Moura didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 15th minute, Edmílson Nóbrega made a precise shot to the right of Zézinho Bezerra. Mineiros-GO's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. In the 19th minute Gernando Moura shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zézinho Bezerra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 20th minute, Edmílson Nóbrega ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Zézinho Bezerra was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Ertuğrul Yaşam received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Jorginho Duarte tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A wasted opportunity for Mineiros-GO. 35 minutes into the game, Kléber Tróia was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Palmeiras's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mineiros-GO the free kick. After a rather tough play, Palmeiras's Kléber Tróia got a free kick in the 35th minute. In the 37th match minute, Palmeiras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edmílson Nóbrega to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Palmeiras getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Kléber Tróia hit a great ball. When Jack McLian came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Mineiros-GO fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jack McLian couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gernando Moura in the 45th minute of play forced Mineiros-GO's goalkeeper Zézinho Bezerra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 46thth minute of the game Ertuğrul Yaşam who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Palmeiras's Jorginho Duarte was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ertuğrul Yaşam to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Mineiros-GO booed when Palmeiras was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexandre Quadros didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ertuğrul Yaşam in the 67th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jorginho Duarte saved Palmeiras from getting behind. When Nelson Brodel fell near the penalty area in the 70th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mineiros-GO's protests and gave Nelson Brodel a yellow card for diving instead. In the 70th match minute, Mineiros-GO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nelson Brodel to maneuver through the defense. Téo Paraense could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 73rd minute of the match, but Zézinho Bezerra made a huge save. Zézinho Bezerra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gernando Moura, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Through an outstanding action, after 78 minutes, Zézinho Bezerra successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. With a little luck, Mineiros-GO's Zézinho Bezerra got control of the ball when Téo Paraense tried to sneak it across the goal line. Mineiros-GO's defense didn't have a chance, in the 84th minute, when Gernando Moura scored to the left of an out of position Zézinho Bezerra, making the score, 1-3. Zézinho Bezerra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gernando Moura, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jack McLian fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorginho Duarte having to interfere. Jack McLian blasted a shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jorginho Duarte having to make a save.
