The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Through an outstanding action, after 3 minutes, Remo da Cunha successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After a defensive mix-up in Araripe's zone, Remo Veloso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Remo da Cunha came out of the goal and Remo Veloso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 7 minutes into the match, Crystaes's goal looked a bit too open when Enrique de Castro came free, but Donatello Fonseca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Enrique de Castro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 10th minute, Délio Nóbrega hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 11th minute, Benjamim Gomes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With an all-out effort, Crystaes's Remo da Cunha threw himself towards the right post 14 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Claudinei Pereira, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Rodolfo Pena's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Donatello Fonseca read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. If Remo Veloso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 25 minutes into the match, Crystaes's Remo Veloso sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Remo da Cunha narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Rodolfo Pena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Claudinei Pereira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Remo da Cunha having to interfere. Remo da Cunha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claudinei Pereira in the 33rd minute of the match. Agnaldo Rosa kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. If Claudinei Pereira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Araripe's Remo da Cunha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Claudinei Pereira in the 42nd minute of play. Remo Veloso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Claudinei Pereira kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Claudinei Pereira stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Crystaes's goal looked a bit too open when Rodolfo Pena came free, but Donatello Fonseca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Délio Nóbrega's late challenge caught a Araripe's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Délio Nóbrega helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Crystaes getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Délio Nóbrega hit a great ball. If Enrique de Castro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in Crystaes fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 61st minute. Penalty! The referee gave Araripe a penalty, 63 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Benjamim Gomes, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Crystaes's Donatello Fonseca. 0-1. Araripe's Rodolfo Pena was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 67th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Donatello Fonseca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodolfo Pena in the 73rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claudinei Pereira in the 77th minute of play forced Araripe's goalkeeper Remo da Cunha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Enrique de Castro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 83rd minute Claudinei Pereira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Remo da Cunha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Agnaldo Rosa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Donatello Fonseca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Araripe getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Enrique de Castro hit a great ball. Rodolfo Pena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donatello Fonseca having to interfere. When Délio Nóbrega was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 95 minutes had been played. In the 96th match minute, Crystaes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Délio Nóbrega to maneuver through the defense. When the match was over Araripe could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Crystaes throughout the match.
