Canuma's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rubens Proença was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Jefferson Saraiva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Didi Mota in the 7th minute of play. Claudinei Fernandez kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. Los CueCas's Rubens Proença shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 10th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Cláudio Senna but with some difficulty. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Baiano in the 14th minute of play forced Los CueCas's goalkeeper Jefferson Saraiva to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 15th match minute, Canuma was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ernani Simões to maneuver through the defense. Didi Mota fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jefferson Saraiva having to interfere. 26 minutes into the match, Los CueCas's goal looked a bit too open when Didi Mota came free, but Jefferson Saraiva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cláudio Senna made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Rubens Proença sent off a good shot on target. In the 31st minute, Luciano Esteves left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Los CueCas fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. After having played for 34 minutes, Rubens Proença managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Los CueCas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rubens Proença was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jefferson Saraiva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Denílson Corrêa in the 42nd minute of play. Rubens Proença blasted a shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cláudio Senna having to make a save. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Didi Mota stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Los CueCas's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Didi Mota fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Denílson Corrêa might have been able to make a better finish in the 52nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jefferson Saraiva. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. In the 53rd match minute, Los CueCas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gonçalo Barreto to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rubens Proença in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cláudio Senna saved Canuma from getting behind. Didi Mota received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Jefferson Saraiva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jefferson Saraiva dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-1. In the 76th match minute, Canuma was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Claudinei Fernandez to maneuver through the defense. After 77 played minutes Los CueCas got a freekick which was hit by Eliseu Simões. Los CueCas's Jefferson Saraiva proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 80th minute of the match, managed to save Los CueCas from getting a goal against them. Jefferson Saraiva was a little too slow when Carlos Baiano got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 82nd minute. The score was now 4-2. If Luciano Esteves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 88 played minutes Canuma got a freekick which was hit by Didi Mota. In the 89th minute Luciano Esteves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cláudio Senna saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Denílson Corrêa got free with Jefferson Saraiva in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Eliseu Simões had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jefferson Saraiva took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Denílson Corrêa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Los CueCas fully deserved thier win.
