Willian Donato started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. After 3 minutes, Benjamim Tinoco mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cacal and the São Paulo players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 3 played minutes Cacal got a freekick which was hit by Benjamim Tinoco. Dalmo Campidelis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Benjamim Tinoco, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. Paulo José de Senna recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 13th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Eusébio Fernandez made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Willian Donato sent off a good shot on target. In the 16th minute José Augusto Albuquerque shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dalmo Campidelis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fellipe Rodrigues received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Eusébio Fernandez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eurico Brito kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. After 25 minutes, Eugênio Macedo made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. São Paulo's Dalmo Campidelis tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. São Paulo's Dalmo Campidelis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eugênio Macedo in the 28th minute of play. Fellipe Rodrigues recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dalmo Campidelis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Augusto Albuquerque, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fellipe Rodrigues fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eusébio Fernandez having to interfere. 43 minutes into the match, São Paulo's goal looked a bit too open when Eugênio Macedo came free, but Dalmo Campidelis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 48th minute of the match Vágner Arósio sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dalmo Campidelis skillfully saved the ball. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Eugênio Macedo made a kick off. São Paulo's Dalmo Campidelis proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save São Paulo from getting a goal against them. Vágner Arósio kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. When Fellipe Rodrigues came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the São Paulo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fellipe Rodrigues couldn't finish the play. 57 minutes into the match, Cacal's goal looked a bit too open when Paulo José de Senna came free, but Eusébio Fernandez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Willian Donato sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 60 minutes into the match, Paulo José de Senna had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Eusébio Fernandez. Cacal's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Paulo José de Senna was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. After a defensive mix-up in Cacal's zone, Willian Donato stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eusébio Fernandez came out of the goal and Willian Donato tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Paulo José de Senna might have been able to make a better finish in the 65th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Eusébio Fernandez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Paulo José de Senna ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 66th minute Willian Donato shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eusébio Fernandez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Paulo José de Senna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eugênio Macedo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Paulo José de Senna struck a weak shot in the 79th minute. Eusébio Fernandez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for São Paulo. If Willian Donato had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 83 minutes into the match, São Paulo's goal looked a bit too open when Eugênio Macedo came free, but Dalmo Campidelis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 85 minutes into the match, José Augusto Albuquerque had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dalmo Campidelis. São Paulo's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that José Augusto Albuquerque was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. With a little luck, São Paulo's Dalmo Campidelis got control of the ball when José Augusto Albuquerque tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Paulo José de Senna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fellipe Rodrigues received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Eusébio Fernandez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 94 minutes into the match, São Paulo's goal looked a bit too open when Eugênio Macedo came free, but Dalmo Campidelis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Fellipe Rodrigues during the 95th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Chants of Cacal echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as São Paulo had held the ball for most of the match.
