An unexpectedly hard shot by Romeu Carioca in the 7th minute of play forced GremioFC's goalkeeper Cristian Soeiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wilian Neves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Erik Carvalho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cristian Soeiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adriano Simão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 13 minutes into the match, GremioFC's goal looked a bit too open when Durvalino Vinhas came free, but Cristian Soeiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Romeu Carioca fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Basilio's protests and gave Romeu Carioca a yellow card for diving instead. 18 minutes into the match, GremioFC's goal looked a bit too open when José Maria Cunha came free, but Cristian Soeiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Júlio Baiano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wilian Neves's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 25thth minute, Erik Carvalho skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After 27 played minutes GremioFC got a freekick which was hit by Adelino Guedes. Basilio's Durvalino Vinhas got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 29 minutes into the game, Adelino Guedes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. GremioFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Basilio the free kick. In the 30th match minute, GremioFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adelino Guedes to maneuver through the defense. In the 31st minute the ball was on its way in behind Basilio's goalkeeper Erik Carvalho, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Cristian Soeiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Durvalino Vinhas in the 35th minute of the match. Cristian Soeiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Durvalino Vinhas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cristian Soeiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Maria Cunha in the 38th minute of play. Cristian Soeiro didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Romeu Carioca went, in the 40th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. 44 minutes into the match, Basilio's goal looked a bit too open when Wilian Neves came free, but Erik Carvalho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. GremioFC's Cristian Soeiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Maria Cunha in the 46th minute of play. Cristian Soeiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Romeu Carioca, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half Basilio were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Wilian Neves stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Adelino Guedes kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. When Edu Saraiva came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the Basilio fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edu Saraiva couldn't finish the play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Miguel Leite during the 55th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Basilio's Miguel Leite got a free kick in the 55th minute. GremioFC's Cristian Soeiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Durvalino Vinhas in the 57th minute of play. 59 minutes into the match, GremioFC's goalkeeper Cristian Soeiro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Adriano Simão. José Maria Cunha could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Cristian Soeiro made a huge save. After a defensive mix-up in Basilio's zone, Frank Paulista stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Erik Carvalho came out of the goal and Frank Paulista tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 71 minutes into the match, Chico Félix notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Basilio's Erik Carvalho. Erik Carvalho was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Miguel Leite hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. Cristian Soeiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Durvalino Vinhas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 82nd minute, Basilio's Adriano Simão dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Romeu Carioca got free with Cristian Soeiro in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
