After a defensive mix-up in Guarapuvense F.C.'s zone, Duarte Mendes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Armando Reis came out of the goal and Duarte Mendes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Duarte Mendes was the one to do the kick off. If Ian Loureiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Canca's Júlio Corrêa got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 61 minutes, Ian Loureiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Guarapuvense F.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Ian Loureiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ricardo Velloso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 70th minute the ball was on its way in behind Canca's goalkeeper Adrianinho Carioca, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.
