The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Luiz Paulo Nogueira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gildo Secco, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. Duarte Tande recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Duarte Tande fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gustavo Baptista having to interfere. After 12 minutes, Gildo Secco made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Cacimbinhas SC's Luiz Paulo Nogueira tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Cristóvão Britto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cacimbinhas SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristóvão Britto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gustavo Baptista breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Duarte Tande in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gustavo Baptista saved Maruda from getting behind. 19 minutes into the game, one of Maruda:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. When the match had been going on for 20 minutes, Cacimbinhas SC's Alexandre Madureira got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Gustavo Baptista. The supporters of Cacimbinhas SC booed when Maruda was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Otávio Teles didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 30th minute, Maruda's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Cristóvão Britto fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. 36 minutes into the match, Cacimbinhas SC's goal looked a bit too open when Gildo Secco came free, but Luiz Paulo Nogueira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gustavo Baptista made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Duarte Tande in the 37th minute of play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jefferson Braga stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Ademir Dias fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gustavo Baptista having to interfere. Gustavo Baptista took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristóvão Britto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 56 minutes into the game, Otávio Teles was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Maruda's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cacimbinhas SC the free kick. The supporters of Cacimbinhas SC booed when Maruda was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Otávio Teles didn't get a good kick on the ball. Duarte Tande received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Gustavo Baptista tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gonçalo Quadros's late challenge caught a Cacimbinhas SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After some careless play in the Maruda defense, Cristóvão Britto kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gustavo Baptista. The Maruda fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gustavo Baptista should have stopped the shot. Gildo Secco's late challenge caught a Cacimbinhas SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gildo Secco helped the player get up and apologised. In the 71st minute, Gildo Secco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Zacarias Catarinense hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. 73 minutes into the game, Duarte Tande cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-3. Gustavo Baptista was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 76 minutes into the game, Leonardo Pimenta was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cacimbinhas SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Maruda the free kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Luciano Cearense during the 78th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Cacimbinhas SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Duarte Tande was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cristóvão Britto's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gustavo Baptista read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play. When Ademir Dias fell near the penalty area in the 91st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cacimbinhas SC's protests and gave Ademir Dias a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Maruda booed when Cacimbinhas SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ademir Dias didn't get a good kick on the ball. A hard shot by Giovanni Rocha from long distance, 92 minutes into the match, got Luiz Paulo Nogueira's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
