Thanks to some nice moves Juan Gaspar could shoot a difficult shot in the 13th minute, which Jerônimo Velloso however easily saved by the left post. After a rather tough play, Manchester's Tony Maranhense got a free kick in the 22nd minute. Quinzinho's Magno Rezende managed to work through Manchester's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Magno Rezende dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. The supporters of Quinzinho booed when Manchester was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lúcio Severo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Magno Rezende sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hílton Veiga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sebastião Alagoano in the 31st minute of play. Jerônimo Velloso didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Manchester. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sebastião Alagoano was the one to do the kick off. If Sebastião Alagoano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Tony Maranhense recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 60 minutes, Magno Rezende managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Quinzinho's supporters crossed their fingers, but Magno Rezende was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 61st minute Raí Correia suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. After 61 minutes, Lúcio Severo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Manchester and the Quinzinho players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 62 played minutes Manchester got a freekick which was hit by Lúcio Severo. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Sebastião Alagoano managed to get in a good position for a shot. Quinzinho's supporters rose to their feet, but Sebastião Alagoano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hílton Veiga breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Juan Gaspar succeeded in the game's 69th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-0. In the 73rd minute Juan Gaspar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jerônimo Velloso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Juan Gaspar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 77 minutes into the game, Magno Rezende was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Quinzinho's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Manchester the free kick. When Magno Rezende was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 82 minutes had been played. In the 83rd minute, Magno Rezende hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jefferson Saldanha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Manchester's Juan Gaspar in the 96th minute got a chance for a shot 96th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Quinzinho's goalie prevented a goal. Manchester's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
