Gernando da Rocha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aníbal Novaes in the 8th minute of play forced Timbora's goalkeeper Gernando da Rocha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Aníbal Novaes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After some careless play in the Timbora defense, Afonso Miranda kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gernando da Rocha. The Timbora fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gernando da Rocha should have stopped the shot. Rodrigo Mineiro charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rodrigo Mineiro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Gernando da Rocha stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Afonso Miranda's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. Gernando da Rocha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aníbal Novaes in the 28th minute of play. The supporters of Tamoa booed when Timbora was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edgard Terra didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gernando da Rocha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Afonso Miranda in the 30th minute of the match. Gernando da Rocha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Afonso Miranda, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. In the 44th minute, Rodrigo Mineiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rodrigo Mineiro to make the kick off. Tamoa's Breno Vinhas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Breno Fernandez in the 53rd minute of play. Timbora's Gernando da Rocha proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save Timbora from getting a goal against them. Aníbal Novaess short, quick shot in the 64thth minute got Gernando da Rocha to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Breno Vinhas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Edgard Terra kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. After 80 minutes, José Paulo Mello mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tamoa and the Timbora players grew even worse after the yellow card.
