Fiori Matorin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulão da Costa, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. The supporters of Jatimana booed when Joinville SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulão da Costa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jatimana's Fiori Matorin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Afonsinho Soeiro in the 9th minute of play. 12 minutes into the match, Jorginho Medeiros had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Túlio Lopes. Joinville SS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jorginho Medeiros was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Paulão da Costa during the 18th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 18th match minute, Joinville SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Paulão da Costa to maneuver through the defense. 21 minutes into the match, Joinville SS's goalkeeper Túlio Lopes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by João Pedro Alvarenga. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulão da Costa in the 30th minute of play forced Jatimana's goalkeeper Fiori Matorin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 41st minute, Jatimana's Jorginho Medeiros dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. After a defensive mix-up in Joinville SS's zone, Jorginho Medeiros stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Túlio Lopes came out of the goal and Jorginho Medeiros tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.
After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Paulão da Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Joinville SS's supporters rose to their feet, but Paulão da Costa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fiori Matorin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 58 minutes into the game, Paulão da Costa recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Fiori Matorin. Paulão da Costa showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. Jatimana's Lúcio Cardoso got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 73 minutes into the match, Jatimana's goalkeeper Fiori Matorin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Afonsinho Soeiro. Túlio Lopes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of João Pedro Alvarenga's shot from short distance in the 74th minute.
