Genílson Mesquita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hernani Valle, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 5 minutes of play, Goyanninha's Paulo José Secco made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Genílson Mesquita was left in no man's land by his defense there! Paulo José Secco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Genílson Mesquita having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Paulo José Secco's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Genílson Mesquita was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. When Walmyr Hermes fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Guido's protests and gave Walmyr Hermes a yellow card for diving instead. Walmyr Hermes hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Hernani Valle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Genílson Mesquita having to interfere. The supporters of Goyanninha booed when Guido was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guto Cunha didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the Guido defense, Hernani Valle kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Genílson Mesquita. The Guido fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Genílson Mesquita should have stopped the shot. Paulo José Secco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Genílson Mesquita tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Genílson Mesquita showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hernani Valle, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. In the 43rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Guido's goalkeeper Genílson Mesquita, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Hernani Valle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

When the match had gone on for 52 minutes, Hernani Valle put it in 0-4 from a short distance just to the right of Genílson Mesquita. Genílson Mesquita came out of the goal in the 68th minute to try and stop a shot by Goyanninha's Paulo José Secco. But to his dismay, Paulo José Secco quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-5. If Vladimir da Cunha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luiz Paulo Palmeira's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Genílson Mesquita read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 79th minute of play. Hernani Valle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Genílson Mesquita having to interfere. If Hernani Valle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Luiz Paulo Palmeira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Goyanninha's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
