In the 8th minute, Edu Guimarães hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Almir Tavares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Panela Quente FC's Almir Tavares got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Erivaldo Meirelles might have been able to make a better finish in the 16th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Genílson Massa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Erivaldo Meirelles ran back to his position shaking his head. With an all-out effort, Panela Quente FC's Genílson Massa threw himself towards the right post 17 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ivo Matos, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 18 played minutes Pajehu got a freekick which was hit by Marcus Britto. The crowd rose to their feet as Ivo Matos kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Genílson Massa. That made the score 2-0 in the 25 minute of play. Roberto Perez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Belmiro Freire in the 29th minute of the match. If Erivaldo Meirelles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Erivaldo Meirelles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Erivaldo Meirelles's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Genílson Massa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Elói Leme stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Pajehu's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Panela Quente FC the free kick. The supporters of Panela Quente FC booed when Pajehu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eusébio Chaves didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Erivaldo Meirelles came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Panela Quente FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Erivaldo Meirelles couldn't finish the play. Roberto Perez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elói Leme in the 89th minute of the match.
