Paulo Berger tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 9 played minutes Provisao got a freekick which was hit by Olavo Neto. With a little luck, Provisao's Delfim Barbosa got control of the ball when Dorival Meirelles tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Provisao's Olavo Neto in the 14th minute got a chance for a shot 14th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Jatuaraninha EC's goalie prevented a goal. Paulo Berger took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Olavo Neto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 19 minutes into the match, Ivo Catarinense notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Jatuaraninha EC's Paulo Berger. Paulo Berger was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. A collision led to Provisao getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. João Pedro Magalhães hit a great ball. Tarcisio Abraão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Delfim Barbosa having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Edu Netto during the 26th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 28 minutes into the match, Provisao's goalkeeper Delfim Barbosa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dorival Meirelles. Delfim Barbosa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tarcisio Abraão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Paulo Berger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ivo Catarinense in the 35th minute of the match. Olavo Neto took the ball and in the 36 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Paulo Berger. Paulo Berger dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. 40 minutes into the game, one of Jatuaraninha EC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Ivo Catarinense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulo Berger having to interfere. Jatuaraninha EC's Tarcisio Abraão got a good chance for a goal in the 49th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Olavo Neto to strike the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gildo de Barros during the 53rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Provisao's Sílvio Campidelis couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 54th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Jatuaraninha EC. In the 58th minute Olavo Neto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulo Berger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jatuaraninha EC's Paulo Berger proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 72nd minute of the match, managed to save Jatuaraninha EC from getting a goal against them. In the 79th minute Tarcisio Abraão shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Delfim Barbosa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Provisao booed when Jatuaraninha EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rubens Vidal didn't get a good kick on the ball. Olavo Neto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Paulo Berger showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Olavo Neto, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Olavo Neto in the 88th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Paulo Berger saved Jatuaraninha EC from getting behind. Jatuaraninha EC's Paulo Berger played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Olavo Neto in the 96th minute of play. If Ivo Catarinense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 99th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Provisao's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
