Dinei Goiano started the match with the kick off. Basílio Severo, 4 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Moisés Guerra kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Cocal EC defense, Luiz Fernando Nascimento kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of João Oliveira. The Cocal EC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that João Oliveira should have stopped the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Luiz Fernando Nascimento during the 19th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 20th match minute, Mateiro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luiz Fernando Nascimento to maneuver through the defense. Hudson Tavares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vítor Garcia during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The crowd rose to their feet as Dinei Goiano kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving João Oliveira. That made the score 3-0 in the 33 minute of play. Moisés Guerra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Edvaldo Coelho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Elói da Cunha fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mateiro's protests and gave Elói da Cunha a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Cocal EC booed when Mateiro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elói da Cunha didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Moisés Guerra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 49th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hudson Tavares to make the kick off. Vítor Garcia kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. João Oliveira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dinei Goiano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 65 minutes into the match, Mateiro's Dinei Goiano sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that João Oliveira narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Michel Mattos's late challenge caught a Cocal EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Michel Mattos helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Cocal EC booed when Mateiro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Michel Mattos didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Cocal EC's Hudson Tavares slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Edvaldo Coelho. That made the score 3-2 after 89 minutes of play. During the 92nd minute of the match Luiz Fernando Nascimento completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Luiz Fernando Nascimento a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After 93 played minutes Mateiro got a freekick which was hit by Luiz Fernando Nascimento. Edvaldo Coelho was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 94th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Basílio Severo. Zacarias Pena lost his temper 97 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 97th minute, one of Mateiro:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Mateiro. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
