Falcão Martins fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristiano Saldanha having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dito Soares in the 6th minute of play forced Apora's goalkeeper Cristiano Saldanha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Dito Soares came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Botafogo MZRJ fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dito Soares couldn't finish the play. Eliézer Andrade received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Eriberto Braga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cristiano Saldanha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dito Soares in the 13th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dito Soares in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cristiano Saldanha saved Apora from getting behind. 20 minutes into the match, Botafogo MZRJ's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Magalhães came free, but Eriberto Braga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cristiano Saldanha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dito Soares, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. The supporters of Botafogo MZRJ booed when Apora was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Denílson de Amorim didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Apora getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Joel Moura hit a great ball. Cristiano Saldanha didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dito Soares went, in the 29th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. After a rather tough play, Apora's Carlos Magalhães got a free kick in the 33rd minute. The audience was convinced that Dito Soares's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cristiano Saldanha was relentless in the 39th minute of the game. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Carlos Magalhães made a kick off. 69 minutes into the match, Apora's goal looked a bit too open when Dito Soares came free, but Cristiano Saldanha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dito Soares who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 70thth minute tested the skills of Cristiano Saldanha when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Carlos Magalhães managed to get in a good position for a shot. Apora's supporters rose to their feet, but Carlos Magalhães was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eriberto Braga breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Falcão Martins struck a weak shot in the 86th minute. Cristiano Saldanha didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Botafogo MZRJ. Dito Soares was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 87th minute. Botafogo MZRJ's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Dito Soares shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. 99 minutes into the match, Apora's goal looked a bit too open when Dito Soares came free, but Cristiano Saldanha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match was over Botafogo MZRJ could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Apora throughout the match.
