But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dionísio de Azevedo couldn't finish the play. In the 19thth minute of the game Leopoldo Galvão who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ladeira AD's Wanderson Cosme was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chicão Xavier in the 20th minute of play forced Furado's goalkeeper Cléber Duarte to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Arnaldo Amaral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cléber Duarte stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Chicão Xavier's shot from short distance in the 29th minute. Arnaldo Amaral could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Cléber Duarte made a huge save. Furado's Cléber Duarte played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chicão Xavier in the 32nd minute of play. After having played for 33 minutes, Chicão Xavier managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ladeira AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Chicão Xavier was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 34 played minutes Furado got a freekick which was hit by Ademir do Nascimento. Dionísio de Azevedo struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Wanderson Cosme didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Furado. Arnaldo Amaral was extremely unlucky when he, in the 43rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. The supporters of Ladeira AD booed when Furado was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amauri Alcântara didn't get a good kick on the ball.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Chicão Xavier was the one to do the kick off. 60 minutes into the match, Chicão Xavier had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Cléber Duarte. Furado's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Chicão Xavier was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Dionísio de Azevedo who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 75thth minute tested the skills of Wanderson Cosme when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 76 minutes into the match, Ladeira AD's goalkeeper Wanderson Cosme had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dionísio de Azevedo. Cléber Duarte took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arnaldo Amaral, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 81 minutes into the match, Furado's goal looked a bit too open when Chicão Xavier came free, but Cléber Duarte reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Dionísio de Azevedo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Furado's supporters rose to their feet, but Dionísio de Azevedo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wanderson Cosme breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
