The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Afonso Salgado during the 4th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 8th minute, Percival Gerber made a precise shot to the right of Pedro Matos. Barreiras FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Percival Gerber sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ronaldo Valladares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpected shot in the 30th minute by Percival Gerber got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Pedro Matos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ronaldo Valladares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Percival Gerber fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Matos having to interfere. After having played for 38 minutes, Ronaldo Valladares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Patys SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ronaldo Valladares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Anderson Vander sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Oswaldo Abraão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Oswaldo Abraão to make the kick off. If Percival Gerber had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronaldo Valladares in the 54th minute of play forced Barreiras FC's goalkeeper Pedro Matos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Barreiras FC's Pedro Matos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Percival Gerber in the 57th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Patys SC's Afonso Salgado got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Ronaldo Valladares might have been able to make a better finish in the 66th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pedro Matos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ronaldo Valladares ran back to his position shaking his head. Pedro Matos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Percival Gerber in the 66th minute of play. 75 minutes into the game, Patys SC's Ronaldo Valladares nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Pedro Matos made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. If Percival Gerber had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 85 minutes of play, Patys SC's Genílson do Vale made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Pedro Matos was left in no man's land by his defense there! Percival Gerber received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Pedro Matos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Patys SC's Ronaldo Valladares got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Percival Gerber in the 94th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pedro Matos saved Barreiras FC from getting behind. When Ronaldo Valladares came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Patys SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ronaldo Valladares couldn't finish the play.
